UPDATE: This course is over now, but we will be doing another one soon. To make sure you don't miss it, subscribe to our newsletter or join our Facebook group!
You've been on the beginner starting and stopping courses and done some Heel Brake Stopping and A-Frame Turns and now you want to take it the the next stage!!!
This jam packed workshop is designed to do exactly that and covers so really cool skills like: Stride 2 - to pick up a bit more speed with a bit less effort. This skill is a mix of short side ways strokes and recover glides. We use the ready position in this skill to glide along with a weight transference from one leg to another, Heel Brake Stopping - downhill which will give you the confidence to know you can stop anywhere, Parallel turns - A turn that uses a scissor stance with most of the weight on the back foot. More efficient that the A-Frame turn and it looks cool too and Spin Stops - A low to moderate speed stop by creating a spin and pushing the moving energy down. Sounds a bit complicated but with the right technique it's really easy, they are a perfect way to finish any stop as well as being a great base skill for going from forwards to backward when you get to be a super skater! Speaking of which, if we have time I will also be covering some basic backwards skating skills for an extra bit of fun.
The sessions take place at The Royal Albert Memorial the date of the next session is not fixed yet.
You will need to make sure that you have skates with a heel brake on them, knee pads, elbow pads, wrist pads and a helmet. Don't have skates and pads? No problem, you can hire them from the Club Blue Room Skate Shop at Marble Arch.
