- ICP/IISA (http://inline-skate.com/)
- The ICP (Inline Certification Programme) is a global standard for inline skating instructors. Divided into three levels of qualification, this certification guarantees you a high quality of teaching. All of our instructors are qualified, with Mark being one of the three level 3 instructors in the UK. If you are thinking of lessons we highly recommend ourselves (obviously!) but encourage you to only use ICP qualified skate schools.
- Club Blue Room (http://www.clubblueroom.com/)
- Club Blue Room is one of London's largest skate retailers. With a wide range of skates, both inline and quad, and helpful staff you would do well to visit their Marble Arch store on Edgware Road to get your first pair of skates. Not only do they sponsor skateinstructor.com but David Whitehead, the manager, is one of instructors.
- SkateFresh (http://skatefresh.com/)
- Asha Kirkby runs SkateFresh, another ICP qualified skate school with instructors teaching in London & Brighton. skateinstructor.com and SkateFresh regularly cooperate on various events, like the annual Paris Trip, and courses.
- Sk8school (http://www.sk8school.co.uk/)
- Tim Wheals has a well established skate school in Eastbourne.
- Liz Miller - Get Rolling (http://www.getrolling.com/)
- Liz Miller's site is well worth a visit and is full of really cool stuff. Liz is also the author of some really good inline skate books you can buy on her website.
- Skate Escape (http://www.skate-escape.com/)
- Combine your favourite leisure pursuit with your holidays. Take a vacation on skates with them and escape into the picturesque landscapes of Switzerland.
- Skate Manufacters
-
- Rollerblade (http://rollerblade.com/)
- Rollerblade make good skates for beginners, as well as more advanced, skaters and we highly recommend their Twister II or Twister III skates. You're likely to find out instructors teaching in a pair of these skates.
- Universkate / Seba (http://universkate.com/)
- If you're a more advanced skater and able to stop without a heel brake then Seba skates are worth a look. Most of our instructors own a pair of their FR1 skates and we've heard good things about their Seba High skates too.
- Street Skates
-
- The London Friday Night Skate & Sunday Stroll (http://lfns.co.uk/)
- The London skater community created these regular street skates several years ago. They are marshalled, where very good skaters block the traffic to provide a safe environment, and are absolutely free. The Sunday Stroll is a good street skate for beginners whereas the London Friday Night Skate is much, much faster! Run throughout the year these are a prime example of the community working together.
- The Wednesday Night Skate (http://skatelondon.com/)
- Run throughout the summer, the Wednesday Night Skate lies somewhere between the Sunday Stroll and London Friday Night Skate. With a relaxed and often loud environment, it's something to aim for as a beginner. Again, this skate is absolutely free.
- The Santa Skate (http://santaskate.com/)
- If there is one skate to attend each year, this is it. Imagine 500 skaters, all dressed as Santa Claus, skating through the streets of London. Do a search on YouTube you'll see not only the skaters smiling and laughing, but the Christmas shoppers too.
- Pari-Roller (http://www.pari-roller.com/)
- Venture to Paris and take part in their regular Friday night street skate and you're likely to be one of 15,000 skaters! The streets of Paris are smooth, unlike those in London, and the pace can be quicker than the London skates, but the pauses are usually longer. Look out for the police on skates!
