Safety Policy

It is the policy of skateinstructor.com to comply with health and safety legislation and do all that is reasonably practicable to prevent injury, ill health and damage to property and to protect everyone from foreseeable risks.

skateinstructor.com readily acknowledges that the well being of those who may be affected by its activities is of essential importance.

skateinstructor.com recognises that the effective prevention of accidents depends as much on a committed attitude of mind to safety as on appropriate methods of instruction and the use of appropriate equipment. To this end it will seek to encourage participation in establishing and observing safe practices by all those affected by its activities.

It should be acknowledged that maintaining appropriate safety standards is of necessity, which requires the co-operation of those involved in its activities.

Those involved in instruction activities will be expected to recognise that there is a clear duty to bring to notice immediately any situation which they consider to be unsafe or unhealthy. They should exercise self-discipline and accept responsibility to do everything they reasonably can to prevent injury to themselves or to others.

Safety Rules

  1. All students must wear knee, wrist and elbow pads.
  2. Unless otherwise permitted by your instructor, all students must wear a helmet.
  3. All students must sign a waiver form absolving skateinstructor.com and our instructors of any responsibility for injury occurred during a lesson.
  4. We will not teach if the environment is dangerous.
  5. If you do not have the necessary safety equipment we strongly advise you to purchase it. However, we can provide all of the equipment but have a limited supply: so you must inform us of this in advance of the lesson.
  6. Most of our instructors are qualified first aiders and if you are unlucky enough to be injured during one of our lessons then an ambulance may be called at their discretion. Our instructors carry a rudimentary first aid kit.
  7. You must inform us, preferably at the point of booking a lesson, and definitely before the beginning of the lesson itself, of any health issues you may have. This includes physical problems, like back or knee pain, as well as issues such as allergies or special medical requirements.
  8. We will not teach anyone who is under the influence, or suffering the after effects, of alcohol or drugs. If you have prepaid for a lesson you payment is forfeit and non-refundable.
