How To ... Stop with a Heel Brake

| | Comments (0) | TrackBacks (0)

Here is the proper way to use your heel brake (the small bit of rubber at the back of one of your skates) to stop safely:

  1. Roll in the ready position.
  2. Make the scissor position with your braking foot forward and all four wheels on the ground.
  3. Push your braking foot forward, pointing your toes down the road, so that the heel brake touches the ground, lightly.
  4. Sit down by bending your support leg.

This is the easiest and most powerful way to stop as a beginner.
